Alfonso L. Martinez, 70, of Benton, passed away at 7:17 a.m., on Monday, March 8, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

He was born on January 11, 1951, to Adrian and Guadalupe (Lopez) Martinez in Mexico City, Mexico. On August 22, 1970, he married Blanca Reyes and she survives.

He was raised in the Catholic faith. Alfonso was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and music. He loved his wife dearly.

Alfonso is survived by his loving spouse of 50 years, Blanca, two sons, Miguel (Jayme) Martinez of San Jose, CA, Rodrigo Martinez of Niles, IL and one daughter, Gabriela Martinez of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Ayzik Martinez, Blanca Saldivar, JJ Saldivar and Chesney Chamberlain; one brother, Adrian Martinez and one sister, Guillernina Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Guadalupe Martinez and two brothers, Eduardo Martinez and Rojelio Martinez.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.

Per Alfonso's wishes, cremation will take place.
