Anna Jean WebbEwing, IL Anna Jean Webb, 89, of Ewing, IL died at 11:05 p. m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Helia Healthcare in Benton. Mrs. Webb was born on February 7, 1924 in Benton, IL the daughter of Herman Ovid Hampton and Ethel (Parks) Hampton. She married Ed Webb on June 28, 1947 and he preceded her in death on November 27, 1995. Anna was a retired stenographer for the Illinois Central Railroad and a housewife. She served as a volunteer at the Franklin Hospital and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton. Anna was a World War II U. S. Marine Corp. veteran and enjoyed playing card games with her friends. Surviving relatives include Roger M. Webb, Carbondale, IL, Tom Webb, Janesville, WI, two granddaughters, Shannon Bending, Rockford, IL, Jennifer Miranda, Coconut Creek, FL, four great-grandchildren, Dominic, Maya, Sophia, and Nadia, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, John Webb, one brother, Jesse Hampton, and two sisters, Rosemary Roffler and Dorothy Owens, Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Fork Cemetery, Ewing, IL with military honors performed by the Benton American Legion/V.F.W and the Marion National Guard Honor Squad.
