Betty Lou Myers, 83, of Benton, IL, passed away at 2:33 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2015, in San Diego, CA.
She was born on October 21, 1932, to Kirby and Mary (Perryman) Irvin in West Frankfort, IL. Betty worked as a factory worker for General Electric. On March 21, 1950, she married Donald James Myers.
Betty and her late husband enjoyed antiquing after their retirement and had an antique shop in Benton and Mattoon, IL. She was an avid fan for the Benton Rangers track team and the Benton Rangerettes basketball team. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Logreeta Myers of Mattoon, IL, Mary Beth Carastro of Tampa, FL and Donna Orley of Benton, IL; two grandsons, Jefferson James Derrickson and Dylan Myers McDowell; four granddaughters, Jessica Marie Orley, Leah Ann Orley, Ashley Ann Carastro and Mia Lynn Carastro; two brothers, Ted Irvin of Benton, IL and Troy Irvin of Key West, FL; two sisters, Brozella Odam of Benton, IL and Almeda Tadlock of Benton, IL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, John Kirby Myers, a grandson, Jason Charles Alexander, two sisters, Ella Gunnels and Janice Irvin and two brothers, Donald Irvin and Sammy Irvin.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the Pate Funeral Home, 301 South Main Street, Benton, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016, 11:30 a.m. at the Pate Funeral Home, 301 South Main Street, Benton, IL, with Larry Odam, officiating.
Graveside services will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
