Bill Gene WymerOcala, FL Bill Gene Wymer, 86, joined his loving wife and partner of 62 years, Norma (Beattie) Wymer, in heaven on September 13, 2013. Mr. Wymer was born on December 13, 1926 in West City, IL the son of Henry Dorris and Nola (Bundy) Dorris Wymer. He married the former Norma Beattie on July 10, 1947 and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2009. Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman and sportsman. He attended Benton High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1945. He was a member of the Benton Masonic Lodge, Local Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, served as a Deputy Sheriff with Paul Collins, Benton, IL and retired from Florida Power and Light, Homestead, FL. Bill was a Lewis and Clark expert, Mountain Man, who participated in historical reenactments such as the battle of St. Augustine, Indian wars in the Florida Keys, and the Lewis and Clark parade in Montana. Surviving relatives include three children, Ned Wymer, Ocala, FL, Deborah Springer, Ocala, FL, Dan Wymer, The Villages, FL, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Lana Wymer, Ocala, FL, a brother-in-law, Jack Perkins, Benton, IL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Wymer was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Charles Wymer, wife, a granddaughter, Summer Wymer, and a daughter-in-law, Rita Wymer. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Friday, September 20, 2013 and from 9:00 to 11:00 a. m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. John West officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellow Cemetery in Benton with military honors performed by the Benton American Legion/V.F.W and the Navy Honor Squad.
