Obituary

Bradley "Brad" Gene Hill, 63, of West Frankfort, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale due to complications of surgery. Brad was born on January 7, 1952 to James Virgil "J.V." and Priscilla "Moni" (Miller) Hill in Carbondale, IL. He was a 1970 graduate from Benton Consolidated High School, then attended Rend Lake Community College where he received his degree. He retired after 43 years of service with the I.B.E.W. Local 702 as a Lineman. He worked for 25 years as a Construction Lineman with the Southern Illinois Co Op. He was a Mason and of the Baptist Faith. Brad was the owner of ARCA Brad Hill Racing Team with driver Shane Cockrum and business partner Tim Cooksey. Brad's Racing Team was truly like a family and he had a special relationship with each one of them. He also worked on a NASCAR Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series Race Team. Brad will be well remembered for showcasing the General Lee around the community and other special events. The MARK V was a band of five high school classmates all the kids loved going to their dances at the local teen towns. Brad played bass and vocals along with the other musicians who were his best friends then and now. Brad will be best remembered for his outgoing personality, great smile, and friendly hand shake to those he knew as a child and throughout the years of his life. Mr. Hill is survived by his loving twin sister, Kristin "Kris" Neff and husband Michael of Tarpon Springs, FL; niece, Lauren Geiger and husband Barry of Tampa, FL; nephew, James Lon Hill, II of GA; and his special companion, Shelley Ingram. He was preceded in death by father, James V. Hill, mother, Priscilla "Moni" Hill, brother, James Lon "Lonnie" Hill. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 7:00 pm at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Wounded Warriors Foundation.
