Catherine Marie Waggoner - Benton, IL Catherine Marie Waggoner, 91, of Benton, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Mrs. Waggoner was born on May 2, 1921 in Ewing, IL the daughter of Rev. C.J. Jack Ketteman and Mabel (Bain) Ketteman. She married William "Bill" Waggoner on May 21, 1939 and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1969. Catherine was retired as secretary for the University of Illinois Region 10 Extension Department. She was a member of the North Benton Baptist Church where she served as librarian and formerly as church secretary. She was a lifetime member of the Home Extension and loved quilting, knitting, reading, and crossword puzzles. Surviving relatives include one son, David (Susan) Waggoner, Springfield, three grandchildren, Brook (Dr. Ric) White, Charlotte, NC, Michael (Vanessa) Meinert, Benton, Matthew Meinert, Dallas, TX, two great-grandchildren, Henry and Veda Meinert, both of Benton, one sister, Jane (Rev. Bobby) Jackson, Greenville, NC and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Waggoner was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Stewart Jay Waggoner and one brother, Rev. Paul Jack Ketteman. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the North Benton Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the North Benton Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Corn officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty-Ridlen Cemetery in Macedonia.
