Cecil H. BennettWest Frankfort, IL Cecil H. Bennett, 76, of West Frankfort, IL, died at 6:48 p. m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at Franklin Hospital in Benton. Mr. Bennett was born on October 2, 1937 in Olive Branch, IL the son of Henry Bennett and Millie (Morgan) Bennett Barger. He married Helen (nee Bloom) Bennett in September 1978 and she survives. Cecil enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles. He was known to most people as having a kind, gentle spirit. Surviving relatives include his wife, Helen Bennett, West Frankfort, IL, two sons, Jason (Shasta) Bennett, West Frankfort, IL, Danny Bennett, Metropolis, IL, nine grandchildren, a brother, Roger (Robin) Bennett, Whittington, IL, four sisters, Barbara (Bennie) Cook, Elsah, IL, Effie "Micky" (Clint) Batcheller, Robinson, IL, Rebecca (Jimmy) Malone, Thompsonville, IL, Lora (Scott) Barger Key, Benton, IL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Morris Barger, an infant sister, Lenora Christine Bennett, and one brother, Johnnie Bennett. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 p. m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Hammonds officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.
