Charles Raymond Boyer - Benton, IL Charles Raymond Boyer, 89, of Benton, IL, went home to be with the Lord at 9:55 a. m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Franklin Hospital in Benton. Mr. Boyer was born on November 20, 1923 in Franklin Co., IL the son of Francis Raymond Boyer and Luna Mason (Sims) Boyer. Charles was and SIU graduate and a retired teacher. He enjoyed gardening, composing poems, traveling with family, watching Lawrence Welk, and caring for his chickens. He was a devoted Christian and attended First Church of the Nazarene in Benton. He is survived by his special family, William and Cathy Young, Whittington, Jason Young, Heather Young, Jeremy and Miranda Young, Kyle and Sarah McCollum, all of Benton, Megan Young, Jesse Young, Grace Young, Jacob Young, and Josh Young, all of Whittington. Mr. Boyer was preceded in death by his parents, and his infant brother. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a. m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Benton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday at the church with Rev. James Cottle officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Frisco, IL.
