Clinton Eugene Shockley, 74, of 617 Duncan St., died at 8:50 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2005, at the Herrin Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005, at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton with Rev. Larry D. Clyatt officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Shockley was born January 21, 1931, in Benton, the son of William Henry and Dessie (Darnell) Shockley. He married the former Norma Ruth (Martin) Shockley on April 3, 1953, and she survives. He was a technical sergeant with the United States Air Force for twenty years as a technical instructor and a civil engineer, retiring in 1970. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and received the Bronze Star and Vietnam Service Award Medals. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. both of Benton, and 40-8 club, Murphysboro and the Air Force Sergeant' s Association. In addition to his wife, Norma he is survived by four children, Patricia Loboda and husband Mark, Bay City, MI, Pamela Baxley and husband Ed, Sarasota, FL, Martin Shockley and wife Terri, Floyds Knobs, IN, Michael Shockley and wife Lesa, Benton, four grandchildren: Nikki and Mandi Baxley, Sarasota, FL, Aaron and Nate Shockley, Floyds Knobs, IN, a sister-in-law, Ruby Shockley, Steel City, and five nephews: Paul, Don and Dave Shockley, Carl Hosick and Roger Dunning. Mr. Shockley was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jack, Bill, and Henry Shockley, and two sisters, Maggie Hosick and Thelma Dunning.
