Cy R. WebbEwing, IL Cy R. Webb, 85, of Ewing, IL, died at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his home. Mr. Webb was born on January 8, 1925 in Ewing, IL the son of Cyrus M. Webb and Stella (Dollins) Webb. He married Betty Cox and she preceded him in death. He married the former Marlene Browning on July 18, 1972 and she survives. Cy was a retired farmer, former president of the Franklin County Farm Bureau, and former State Vice-President of the Future Farmers of America. He was a U.S. Merchant Marines veteran, a member of the Emmaus Road Missionary Baptist Church, Ewing, IL, and a former deacon and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church, Benton, IL. Cy enjoyed several sports including, golf, sailing, water and snow skiing and walked almost everyday for exercise. He and Marlene loved to travel in the United States and abroad. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving relatives include his wife, Marlene Webb, Ewing, IL, four children, Dr. Karen Webb, Teaneck, NJ, Judy Shank, Tarpon Springs, FL, Don Webb, Belle Rive, IL, Kristian Webb, Elgin, IL, two step-children, Cindy Odom, Benton, IL, Doug Browning, Macedonia, IL, seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Virginia Faxon, Palo Alto, CA, Jean Beaty, Hingham, MA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Betty (Cox) Webb, two brothers, Ed and Don Webb, one sister, Alice Beatty, a grandson, Jason Webb, and a step-great-grandson, Deegan Odom. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Marty Ellsworth officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Fork Cemetery, Ewing, IL.
