Glenda "Dar" Cooper, 70, of Benton, IL, died 2:42 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Herrin Hospital, Herrin, IL. Mrs. Cooper was born October 1, 1943 in Sesser, IL, the daughter of Charles and Cleta (Cockrum) Lampley. She married Richard Cooper on April 23, 1965 and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2005. Glenda attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Benton, IL. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a special place in her heart for her loving puppy Bruser, he always could make her smile. She is survived by her children, Judy Holloway and husband Rolland of Benton, IL, Melody Franklin and husband Mark of Benton, IL, Rick Cooper and his companion Cheryl Waters of Benton, IL, Mike Cooper and wife Tammy of West Frankfort, IL, Pam Stites and companion Tommy Sledge of Mt. Vernon, IL and Kevin Cooper and wife Jennifer of Danville, IL, grandchildren, David, Amanda and Daniel Holloway, Sammi and Selina Franklin, Dustin Stites and Brittany Casey, Trysten and Aden Cooper, Noah Waters, Scott Cooper all of Benton, IL, Kayla House, Charles and TJ Hayes, Greg, Taylor and Trenton Cooper all of West Frankfort, IL, Brooke Cooper of Salem, IL and Annie Cooper of Zeigler, IL, three great-grandchildren, Noah Stites, Kaygen and Juanita House, brothers, Charles Lampley and wife of Jewett, IL, and James Lampley of New Mexico, IL, special aunt, Murl Cooper, Glenda's homemaker, Sissy, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Jack Lampley, a sister, Sue Cooper and two grandchildren, Christopher and Taylor Casey. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014, at the Hobbs Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, IL.
