Dennis Lee Rush, 66, of Benton, passed away at 5:21 a.m.,  on Monday,  July 28, 2025, at Deaconess Hospital in Marion, IL, surrounded by his family,

He was born on April 22, 1959, to George and Joan  (Cato) Rush in Kennett, MO. Dennis worked as a Laborer in the construction industry. On June 18, 2001, he married Susan "Sue" Abrams and she preceded him in death on December 11, 2009.

Dennis was a loving dad and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing.

Dennis is survived by his children, Dennis (Niki) Rush, Jr., George (Tiffany) Rush, Charles Rush, Brian Rush,  Rosie (Garry) Piercy, Chuck (Glenda) Ferkel, Mandy (Joe) Smothers, James Schmutz and Josh (Ambar) Hazel and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan  Rush, his wife, Susan "Sue" Rush, his brother, Elvie Rush and his sister, Diana Overton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home and Crematory, 301 South Main Street, Benton, IL.

Per Dennis' wishes, cremation will take place.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Hights Church of God, 1418 East Clark St., West Frankfort, IL.  A luncheon will follow service the family request if your able to bring a dish.  Please contact the family directly for further details with your dish, to prevent multiple dishes.
