Dorothy Rone - Benton, IL Dorothy May (Short) Rone, 91, of Heritage Woods, Benton, IL passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton with Rev. John West officiating. Burial will be at Brady Cemetery in Akin. Visitation will be from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Rone was born on September 15, 1921 in Mulkeytown, IL the daughter of William Carl Short and Lula (Flowers) Short. She married George L. "Bud" Rone on February 2, 1941 and he preceded her in death on November 29, 1998. Dorothy was a retired factory worker and farmer. She was a member of the Rend City Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family. Survivors include three children, Les (Zella) Rone, Sebring, FL, David "Rabbit" (Helen) Rone, Akin, Tawana Rone (Oscar) Shew, Thompsonville, eight grandchildren, Shari (Scott) Buntin, Thompsonville, Steve Rone, Akin, Mike Rone, Ohio, Robyn Neal, Florida, Marcie Rone, West Allis, WI, Jeff Rone, Thompsonville, Denise (Kenny) Smith, Thompsonville, Misty (Jamie) Stover, Thompsonville, fourteen great-grandchildren, Caleb and Matt Buntin, Mallory and Brody Rone, Kenise and Kolby Smith, Emma Stover, Paige and Jalynn Rone, Dustin and Alysa Rone, Linsey Toms, Brittany Neal and Alicia Ponds, five great-great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Robert Rone, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, two sisters, Lois Etherton and Edith Fern Pugh, a son, Jerry Rone, and a granddaughter-in-law, Amy Rone.
