Eddie W. Knight, 81, of Cobden, IL, formerly of Benton, died 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Cobden Rehab and Care Center. Mr. Knight was born on August 31, 1933 in Benton, IL the son of Troy and Vevia (Threwitt) Knight. Eddie was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired as a TV Repairman. Mr. Knight was a member of the American Legion in Benton and the Eagles in Benton. Eddie enjoyed tinkering on TV's. Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kathy Gulley and Shirley Summers, a brother, Donnie Knight, and brother-in-law, David Green. Surviving relatives include his children, Troy Knight and wife Kelly, Sheila Hightower and husband Paul, Eva Boonstra and husband Hank, grandchildren, Misty Knight and Jacob, Skylor Knight and Ashton, Haylee Knight, Sharon Keith and husband Billy, Aaron Murphy and wife Brittany, Nicole Wilbur, Michelle Hoffman and Jeremy Wilbur, and many great-grandchildren, five sisters, Joyce Duchene and husband Art, Judy Green, Marilyn Knight, Linda Summers and husband Ronald and Audrey Gilliam. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory, Benton, IL. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow services at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL with military rites performed by the Benton American Legion Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton American Legion and the Benton Eagles and will be accepted at the funeral home.
