Elizabeth A. "Betty" SomerfieldThompsonville, IL Elizabeth A. "Betty" Somerfield, 94, of Thompsonville, died at 8:14 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Harrisburg Medical Center, Harrisburg, IL. Mrs. Somerfield was born March 19, 1919 in Yates Center, KS, the Daughter of Durward B. and Belle A. (Brown) Payne. She married Robert J. Somerfield on May 21, 1949 in La Grange, IL, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Somerfield was a member of the First Baptist Church, Thompsonville, IL, and the Shawnee Trail Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving relatives include her two children, Allyson Rackow and husband Robert, Western Springs, IL, Jeff Somerfield and wife Peggy, Westmont, IL, eleven grandchildren, J. Michael, W. Bradley (Angelica) Rackow, Tristan Pressley, R. Douglas (Anna) Rackow, Danyelle (Robert) Dron, Kyle (Niki), Kathryn, Jeffrey J., Bradley J., Mary, and Ryan Somerfield, two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Aven Rackow, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Somerfield was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Robinson officiating. A second visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2014 at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
