Ernest Dean Sullivan, 77, of Benton, went to be with the Lord and his family that passed on before him at 3:00 a.m., on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at his residence.

Ernie was born on February 27, 1945, in Benton, IL, to Earnest and Hazel (Pemberton) Sullivan. On April 20, 1962, he married Dawn Beckmann of Thompsonville, IL. The couple have six children, Tammy Russell, Laurie Sullivan, Julie (Bill) Hammond, Steven (Lisa) Sullivan, Eric (Jennifer) Sullivan and Christopher (Caryl) Sullivan; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dawn; six children; two sisters, Joyce and Sharon; one brother, James; two sisters-in-law, Betty Klezeushi and Melody (Denny) Beggs.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Roberta; two grandsons, Steven Sullivan and Andrew Cardwell; three brothers-in-law, Edward Klezeushi, George Beckmann and Donald Boatwright; and father and mother-in-law, Milton and Rachel Beckmann.

He enjoyed hunting and restoring old tractors, but most of all he loved his family and spoiling his granddaughters. His wife Dawn was the love of his life. They enjoyed going places, talking and being together.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.

Per Ernest's wishes cremation will take place.
