Florence K. (Neunlist) GilbertThompsonville, IL Florence K. (Neunlist) Gilbert, 87, of Thompsonville, IL, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her son' home. Mrs. Gilbert was born on March 2, 1923 in Newport, AR the daughter of Robert Franklin Hutchens and Gertie Jean (Matlock) Hutchens. She married James Willis on Dec. 24, 1939 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1949. She married Percy (Dick) Neunlist on Oct. 4, 1950 and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1972. She married Kenneth Gilbert on May 10, 1977 and he preceded her in death on Apr. 11, 1981. Florence worked as a sales clerk at the P.N. Hirsch Department Store on the Benton Public Square for several years. She was a member of the East Benton Baptist Church and attended a prayer group at Mt. Etna Methodist Church, Akin, IL. She was a member of the Benton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. Florence enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, square dancing, Benton Ranger sports, and spending time with her family. Surviving relatives include four children, Alice Scroggins, Christopher, IL, Jim Willis and wife Marti, Benton, IL, Brenda Buntin and husband Mike, Thompsonville, IL, Richard Neunlist and wife Mary Jane, Thompsonville, IL, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy Lance and husband Richard, West Frankfort, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, an infant son, Charles Edwin Willis, five sisters, Bobby Jane Hutchens, Edith Blackburn, Thelma Charlene Lee, Alice Doris Batts, and Helen Worsham, three brothers, George, Henry, and Andy Hutchens, and a son-in-law, Bennie Scroggins. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Scroggins officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL.
