Frank Benson Conci - Benton, IL Frank Benson Conci, 81, of Benton, IL, died at 9:41 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010. Mr. Conci was born on May 18, 1929 in Benton, IL the son of Adolph Angelo Conci and Myrtle (Hood) Conci. He married the former Leona A. (Zukowski) Munoz on June 19, 1986 and she survives. Frank served in the U.S. Army in Japan immediately following World War II. He graduated from Benton High School and the University of Missouri-Rolla with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and worked for the Department of Transportation, District 9 office, Carbondale, IL from 1954 to 1973. He then became County Superintendent of Highways for Johnson and later Pope and Hardin counties until his retirement. He was a member of the Benton Rotary Club, Benton Boneyard Bocce Club, lifetime member of the University of Missouri-Rolla Alumni Association, lifetime member of the Shawnee Hills Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, a founding member of the St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Harrisburg, IL, and a supporter of many community projects and service organizations. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Episcopal Church, Rolla, MO in 1951 and was devoted to his Episcopal faith his entire life. Frank enjoyed camping, canoeing, singing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He had many Missouri friends from Lake Wappapello and Hilltop Lodge. He loved and was loved by his children and grandchildren. Surviving relatives include his wife, Leona A. Conci, Benton, IL, five children, Terry (Kim) Conci, Craig, CO, Helen (Beecher) Williams, Herod, IL, Frank A. (Ellen) Conci, Mulkeytown, IL, Jan Conci, Golconda, IL, Carmen Conci (Jeff Wetherly), Harrisburg, IL, and Leona' two children, Karen (Dan) Munoz/Yuhas, Springfield, IL, John (Lynn) Munoz, New Orleans, LA, nine grandchildren, Cara, Brenna, Caitlin, and Kelsey Conci, all of Craig, CO, Jessica (Josh) Wagner, Brownfield, IL, Lauren Williams, Harrisburg, IL, Jared Smith, Colorado Springs, CO, Jake Smith, Golconda, IL, Benson Sheldon, Harrisburg, IL, one sister, Wilma Haas, Benton, IL, a niece, Dorothea (David) Hayman, Wapakoneta, OH, and several other extended family members. Mr. Conci was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene Vincent Conci. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at the St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Harrisburg, IL with a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL with military rites performed by the Benton American Legion and V.F.W.
