Gary L. ManisThompsonville, IL Gary L. Manis, 72, of Thompsonville, IL, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center, Herrin, IL. Mr. Manis was born on May 18, 1939 in Benton, IL the son of William Carl Manis and Arleta (Stricklin) Manis. He married the former Sharon Quillman on April 10, 1965 and she survives. Gary was a farmer, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Thompsonville, IL. He enjoyed working on antique tractors and fishing. Surviving relatives include his wife, Sharon Manis, Thompsonville, IL, one daughter, Felicia Parks and husband Russell, Ft. Myers, FL, one son, Gary Lee Manis and wife Yuyun, Enola, PA, four grandchildren, John and Terrie Parks, Ft. Myers, FL, Daniel Parks, Florida, Alexandria and Ethan Manis, both of Enola, PA, one great-grandson, Jonah Parks, Ft. Myers, FL, two brothers, Don Manis and wife Deloris, Thompsonville, IL, Dean Manis, Thompsonville, IL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Manis was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Alan Manis. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Eddie Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Thompsonville, IL.
