George Hunter, 83, of Benton, IL, born October 8, 1930, in Zeigler, IL, died May 23, 2014, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL. Mr. Hunter was United States Army Veteran. He was a loving husband and enjoyed being spending time outdoors. Mr. Hunter is preceded in death by his parents, John Z. and Elizabeth Z. Hunter, four brothers, Ted Hunter, Frank Hunter, John Hunter and Joseph Hunter and one sister, Olga Adams. George is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Chisenhall) Hunter and nieces & nephews, Joe Hunter, Linda Kranc, John Hunter, Myra Hinze, Nina Burzinski, Mark Hunter and Neal Hunter. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to Noon, Monday, May 26, 2014, at Hobbs Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL. Funeral Service will be held at Noon, Monday, May 26, 2014, at Hobbs Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Whitlock officiating. Burial will be private at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL. Memorial Contributions may be made to the West City Church of God and will be accepted at the funeral home.
