Helen Franko - Benton, IL Helen Franko, 88, of Benton, IL, died at 9:10 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Franko was born on September 3, 1923 in Benton, IL the daughter of Clarence Lowery, Sr. and Bess (Sharp) Biggs. She married Eddie Franko and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1992. Helen worked as a registered nurse for the V.A. Medical Center, Marion, IL, U.M.W.A. Hospital, West Frankfort, IL and Franklin Hospital, Benton, IL from which she retired. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving relatives include one brother, Clarence "Red" Lowery, Benton, IL, uncle, Clarence Lowery, Independence, KY, nephews and nieces, Bill Lowery, Benton, IL, Lynn Alligood, Jacksonville, FL, C.C. Lowery, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Cindy Lowery, Jacksonville, FL, Robert Lowery, Benton, IL, and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews. Mrs. Franko was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Max Lowery. Her wishes were to be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
