Helen Louise Groves - Benton, IL Helen Louise Groves, 84, of Benton, died at 2:10 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Helia Healthcare in Benton. Ms. Groves was born on April 5, 1928 in Benton, IL the daughter of Walter Bettis and Juanita (McGuire) Bettis. Helen worked at several local businesses including McGuire Laundry, Kewpee Cafe,, and Franklin Hotel, all in Benton. She was also a caregiver for the elderly prior to her retirement. Helen was of the Baptist faith. Surviving relatives include one daughter, Judy (Darrell) Grammer, Eddyville, KY, one brother, John (Wilda) Bettis, Logan, IL, one sister, Nadine Stark, West Frankfort, IL, four grandchildren, Brian (Teresa) Grammer, Leslie, MI, Justin (Laurie) Groves, Marion, IL, Miranda (Stanley) Williams, Benton, IL, Sarah Groves, Marion, IL, six great-grandchildren, Koltin and Kaleb Grammer, both of Stockbridge, MI, Ava and Ella Groves, both of Marion, IL, Wyatt and Waylon Williams, both of Benton, IL, two daughters-in-law, Amy Groves, Marion, IL, Dena Groves, Benton, IL, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ms. Groves was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, William E. Groves and Jimmy D. Groves, three brothers, Bennie, Gary and Walter Lee Bettis, and two sisters, Ellen Edwards and Phyllis Bettis. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.
