Howard "Leroy" L. Spain's Obituary
Howard "Leroy" L. Spain, 77, of Benton, passed away at 1:07 a.m., on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Franklin Hospital, Benton, IL.
He was born on February 4, 1939, to Roy and Nina (Hubbs) Spain. Leroy worked as a miner for Freeman #3 Coal Mine and recently ran the Superwash until it closed. He was a loving father and grandfather. Leroy enjoyed camping, fishing and making fishing lures.
Leroy is survived by one son, Jeffery Spain and wife Sue, of Centralia, IL; two grandsons, Jakeb A. Spain and Nathan L. Spain, of Centralia, IL; one brother, Dale Spain and wife, Dorothy of Chillicothe, IL; two sisters, Carolyn Roach of Thompsonville, IL and Marilyn Bradley of Benton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy A. and Nina L. (Hubbs) Spain, his first wife, Nancy L. (Schulz) Spain, second wife, Janis (Odle) Spain, a son, Allen Spain and one brother-in-law, Frank Roach.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at 4:00 pm at the Pate Funeral Home, Benton, IL, with the Rev. Sammy Simmons, officiating.
