Jack D. "Da-Pa" ShockleyWest Frankfort, IL Jack D. "Da-Pa" Shockley, 75, of West Frankfort, died at 9:33 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at his home. Mr. Shockley was born on May 6, 1937 in McLeansboro, IL the son of Alva M. Shockley and Mae (Cluck) Shockley. He married the former Mary Lou Adkins on October 5, 1962 and she survives. Jack was a retired coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A. and the East Benton Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Lou Shockley, West Frankfort, two children, Kelly (Eric) Kirk, Logan, Scott Shockley, Mt. Vernon, IL, four grandchildren, Kasey (Mike) Bonner, West Frankfort, Cory Shockley, West Frankfort, Neil (Cindy) Shockley, Mt. Vernon, IL, Jody Shockley, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, three step-grandchildren, Jayden Hodges, Mt. Vernon, IL, Liam and Laney Kirk, both of Logan, two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Colton Bonner, both of West Frankfort, one sister, Pat ( Gene) Davis, Benton, one brother, Jim (Marie) Shockley, Yukon, OK, a sister-in-law, Helen Shockley, Benton, and several other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Shockley was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bob Shockley, one sister, Doris Evans, and a step-brother, Lee Williamson, Jr. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton with Rev. Ron Cremeens officiating. Military funeral honors will be performed by the Benton American Legion Post 280, V.F.W. Post 5671, and the National Guard Honor Squad in Marion.
