Jackson R. Cantrell, 73, of Benton, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at his residence.

Jack was born on March 2, 1942, to Ray and Ellen Cantrell in McLeansboro, IL. He worked as a contractor. He married the former Elsie Blair, and she preceded him in death on April 9, 2008. On May 23, 2015, he married Patricia Wiggs.

Mr. Cantrell was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of New Life Church of God in Benton, IL.

Jack is survived by his loving spouse, Patricia, a daughter, Vickie Cantrell of Benton, IL; granddaughter, Haley Key of Benton, IL; great-granddaughter, Mia Williams of Benton, IL; and a brother, Kenny Cantrell of Benton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ellen Cantrell, his first wife, Elsie Cantrell, an aunt, Eva Summers, and his pet dog, Chalupa.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31, 2016, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Pate Funeral Home, Benton, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016, at 10:30 am at the Pate Funeral Home, Benton, IL, with Pastor Rod Joplin, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Church of God, Benton, IL and will be accepted at the funeral home.
