James "Jim" Hansen, 76, of Buckner, died Sunday, August 30, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Hansen was born on April 29, 1939, in Racine County, WI, the son of Ansgar "Pete" Emmanuel and Thelma (Payne) Hansen. Jim was a Navy veteran and a retired coal miner. He was a hard worker and a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors and mowing his yard. He had a special place in his heart for his dog Bosco. Surviving relatives include two sons, Darren M. (Pam) Hansen, Kyle M. (Kimberly) Hansen; step-son, Dustin E. (Michele) Forby; former wife, Sandie Kern; 12 grandchildren, Kody Hansen, Jared Hansen, Kailen Hansen, Shane Hansen, Katilyn Fitzwater, Whitni Hale, Brandi (Ryan) Eaton, Marcus Miller, Jalyn Moore, Mikalla Mabry, Cole Forby, Caleb Forby; seven great-grandchildren, David Hansen, Zelda Hansen, Chloe Hansen, Aeris Hansen, Jett Hansen, Madelyn Hood, Jase Eaton; two brothers, Tom (Wanda) Hansen and Ron Hansen. Mr. Hansen was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, George Hansen. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Thursday, September 3, 2015, at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Roger Webb officiating. Graveside services with military rights by the Benton American Legion Post 280, VFW Post 2671 and the Navy Honor Guard Team will follow services at Phillips Cemetery in Ewing, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
