Jerry Allen Miller "Sugar Bear", 58, of Benton, IL, passed away at 4:58 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 surrounded by his family at his daughters residence. Mr. Miller was born on April 10, 1956 in Benton, IL the son of John Alden Miller, Sr. and Louetta (Moss) Tollison. Jerry was a retired bricklayer. He was a loving son, father, and grandfather. Jerry was an avid pool player. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren especially Carly Ann. Surviving relatives include his children, Shannon Renee Stewart and husband Lex of Benton, IL and Leslee Nicole Miller and Jacob Steckenrider of Benton, IL, the mother of his children, Angela Park of Benton, IL, grandchildren, John Pulliam and fiancée Kaitlynn Alvis, Landon Stewart, Carly Ann Steckenrider, Alex Stewart, a great-grandson, Braxton Stewart, his mother, Louetta Mae Tollison and husband Dave of Benton, IL, one sister, Jean Ann Williams and husband Stanley, two brothers, James "Red" Miller, Jack Miller and wife Jenny, all of Benton, IL, a long time friend, Virginia Miller, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Miller is preceded in death by his father, a brother, John Alden Miller, Jr. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Hobbs Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton, IL. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Minor officiating. Burial will be held at Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
