Jill Sampson, 70, of Hahira, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. Mrs. Sampson was born on February 28, 1956, in Mt. Vernon, IL to the late Mary Ellen and Ken Louis Jones.

She met Terry Sampson, her husband, in high school, and they began dating shortly after graduation. They both then attended Southwest Baptist University together. They got married shortly after, in 1977, and Terry went to seminary, moving them both to New Orleans. They served Gentilly church in New Orleans for three years and had their first daughter. Afterwards, they moved to Warner Robins to serve their next church before moving to Ruston, Louisiana, where they had their second daughter. They then moved to Humboldt to serve their next ministry at First Baptist together for 11 years. Then left once again and settled down in Covington at Zion Baptist for 16 years. In 2017, Valdosta became their home as they began serving First Baptist of Valdosta.

Mrs. Sampson loved to read any and all books, and she loved to work in her yard and go to the beach. Her greatest passion was teaching preschoolers and children in the churches where she and Terry served.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Terry Sampson; daughters Jennifer (Joey) Rolen and Brittany (Derek) Riley; brother Brent (Tracy) Jones; grandchildren, Mercedes, Sincerity, Cash, Eleanor, Charles, Josiah, and Edith; nephews, Blake (Madison) Jones, Zach (Shelby); great nephews Memphis, Kasen Jones; nieces Jennifer Upcraft, and Melissa (John) Bean; sister-in-law, Diana (John) Upcraft; and brother-in-law, Wayne Sampson. She was preceded by her parents, Mary and Ken Jones.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center or First Baptist Repair Fund.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Sampson will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, at the First Baptist church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 – 7 p.m., at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta, GA.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, at the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery, Benton, IL.
