Joanne Rago, 71, of West Frankfort, passed away at 4:51 a.m., on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at her home in West Frankfort, IL.

She was born on June 28, 1954, to Joseph F. and Adele D. (Whelan) Rago, in Fall River, MA. Joanne was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Fall River, MA.  Joanne owned a beauty salon for 30 years, and was an active member of the business community.  She was the former President of the Hairdressers Association.   Joanne enjoyed dancing, music and going to concerts. She loved camping, traveling and visiting the beach and the ocean. She was a dear friend to many.

Joanne is survived by her loving partner, Raymond St. Amour of West Frankfort, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph F. and Adele D. Rago and her brother, Cpl. Stephen J. Rago, USMC.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home and Crematory, 301 South Main Street, Benton, IL.

Per Joanne's wishes, cremation will take place.

A celebration of life will be held in Southern Illinois and Fall River, MA, at a near future date.  Burial of her cremated remains will take place at at Notre Dame Cemetery and Mausoleums, next to her beloved mother and brother.
