John Eugene "Gene" Miller, 85, of Thompsonville, IL, went home to be with the Lord at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Helia Healthcare, Benton, IL. Mr. Miller was born March 25, 1922 in Northern Township, Franklin County, IL, near Snowflake, the son of John George Miller and Dora (Smith) Miller. He married Hattie Lee (Pillow) in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 1944. He married Emmagene (Tate) Galles in Sept. 17, 1949 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 1978. He married Eutha (Hall) Constandars on June 1, 1979 and she survives. He was a retired farmer and a deacon at the Second Baptist Church, Thompsonville, IL and he served his Lord faithfully since his conversion in 1949. He enjoyed trading farm equipment and also worked at Miller Equipment in Thompsonville, IL for several years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving relatives include his wife, Eutha Miller, Thompsonville, IL, a daughter, Sylvia (Roger) Ellsworth, Benton, IL, four sons, Larry (Kaye) Miller, Dennis (Hazel) Miller, Paul (Phyllis) Miller, all of Thompsonville, IL, Rodney and (Kendra) Miller, Atlanta, GA, two step-daughters, Renee (Steve) Wilson, West Frankfort, IL, Kathy (Steve) Jones, Greer, SC, two step-sons, Terry Dubre", Arnold, MO, Leroy (Ginger) Dubre", Grover, NC, twenty-one grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Craine, Benton, IL, a brother, Darrell (Wilma) Miller, Galatia, IL, several nieces and nephews, and special friend and helper, James Hubbard, a co-resident at Helia Healthcare. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one brother, Charles Miller, and two sisters, Georgia Robertson and Neva Hess. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastors Roger Ellsworth and Bill Perry officiating. Burial will be in the Ten Mile Cemetery, McLeansboro, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church, Thompsonville, IL or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
