John E. Hartley, 73, of Herrin, passed away on September 8, 2015 at Herrin Hospital. He was born on July 13, 1942 to Vernon Weiss and Doris McGuiness in Granite City, IL. John was a United States Navy Veteran and a retired Truck Driver. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great-uncle. John is survived by his wife Theresa (Topal) Hartley, three daughters, Lynn (Michael) Whitehouse of Herrin, IL, Shelly Kilby, and Brandy Topal; a granddaughter, Calyn Hartley and fiance Joe Devlin; and a grandson, Billy McKay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Weiss and Doris McGuiness and step- father, Lyman Hartley; a son, Michael Hartley; a granddaughter, Amanda House; and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in charge of Funeral Arrangements.
