Obituary

John R. Heifner, 73, of Benton, passed away 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Helia Healthcare of Benton. He was born on December 6, 1941 to William and Ida (Poynor) Heifner in Hamilton County, IL. John married the former Brenda Joyce Eckles on February 23, 1974 and she preceded him in death on February 14, 2012. He then married the former Margie Reed on January 3, 2014 and she survives. He was a member of Plasters Grove Freewill Baptist Church and was a trustee and had taught Sunday School for 30 years. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved trading and working outdoors. Mr. Heifner is survived by his wife, Margie (Reed) Bayless-Heifner; three children, George (Kimberly) Robles, Terrie Nevarez and Tammy (Harold Frey) Heiman; five step-children, Dennis (Anita) Bayless, Dale (Teresa) Bayless, Jill (Kevin) Townley, Judy (Mike) Williams and Jennifer (Dustin) Larkin; eleven grandchildren, Leigh Ann Blackburn, Brandon Robles, Jesse Nevarez, Kiersten Heiman, Austin Robles, Drew Robles, Jase Heiman, Macy Fritcher, Ashley Mix, Ariel Mix and Abreana Mix; two sisters, Barbara Wyant and Darlene (John) Roberts; two brothers, James R. (Patricia) Heifner and Carlton W. (Dixie) Heifner; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William M.and Ida Mae Heifner, wife of 38 years, Brenda Joyce Heifner; a daughter, Cynthia Mix; a brother, Charles Heifner; a brother-in-law, John Wyant; a granddaughter, Kelley Robles-Dewitt; and a great-granddaughter, Lavera Robles. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2015, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, 1:00 pm at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL, with Brother Kent Dunford officiating. Burial will take place in Brady Cemetery, Akin, IL. Memorials may be made to Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in care of funeral expenses.
