Josh "Elrod" Joe Eldridge - Benton, IL Josh "Elrod" Joe Eldridge, 28, of Benton, IL, died Saturday, March 19, 2011. Mr. Eldridge was born on February 24, 1983 in DuQuoin, IL the son of Danny Eldridge and Cindy (Tasky) Eldridge. He married the former Ashley Smith on September 25, 2004 and she survives. Josh was a 2001 BCHS graduate and a graduate of Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel, IL with a degree in Television and Radio Broadcasting. He started his radio career at WQRL in Benton and currently worked at River Radio in Carterville, IL. His responsibilities included producer, on air talent, web designer, voice tracking, etc. and his famous Friday night #1 Mix Show in Southern Illinois, Planet CIL with "Elrod". He also had a night show for six years named "Nights with "Elrod" on CIL-FM. He was very dedicated to his job -- radio was his life. Surviving relatives include his wife Ashley Eldridge, Benton, IL, one son, Austin Joe Eldridge, Benton, IL, one brother, Shawn Eldridge, Benton, IL, parents, Danny and Cindy Eldridge, Benton, IL, maternal grandmother, Marie Chamness, Benton, IL, mother and father-in-law, Kim and Rob Cochrum, Logan, IL, two aunts, Linda Knapp, Benton, IL, Pam Ray, Benton, IL, an uncle, Monty and Jean Eldridge, Manteno, IL, cousins, Lindsey Allen, Benton, IL and Kristen Knapp, West Frankfort, IL, a brother-in-law, Brandon Smith, Logan, IL and several cousins. Mr. Eldridge was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Virgil Chamness, and maternal grandparents, Duke Tasky and Wilma Tasky (Joplin). Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Jim Muir officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL.
