Lavelle CardinLogan, IL Lavelle Cardin, 78, of Logan, IL, died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Herrin Hospital. Mrs. Cardin was born on May 28, 1932 in Logan, IL the daughter of Bill Smothers and Ida (Summers) Smothers. She married Harland Cardin on March 30, 1952 and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2007. Lavelle was a housewife and a member of the Logan Church of God. She enjoyed genealogy, plants, and quilting. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving relatives include one daughter, Janice Davis and husband Keith, one granddaughter, DeeAnna Davis, one grandson, Daniel Davis, all of Logan, IL, a brother, Dale Smothers and wife Norma, Logan, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cardin was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Hamp and Fred Smothers, and five sisters, Ida Dutton, Sylvia Murphy, Barbara Smith, Marilyn Martoglio, and Jeanette Smothers. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Logan Church of God Cemetery with Pastor Roy E. Boothe officiating. Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL is in charge of arrangements.
