Lawrence "Luke" W. Johnson, 90, of Benton, IL, died at 4:25 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2014, at Helia Health Care of Benton. He was born on February 2, 1924, in Benton, IL, the son of Charles W. and Winnie (Lowery) Johnson. He married the former Catherine Bass and she preceded him in death. Mr. Johnson was a veteran serving in the United States Army during WWII. He retired as a Traffic Manager for Fisher Body in Grand Blanc, MI. Lawrence was a member of the Benton American Legion and was a loving father and grandfather. His parents and his wife preceded him in death. Surviving relatives include his two children, Marc Johnson of Gains, MI and Cecilia Ludwick of Lansing, MI, two grandchildren, Sara Ludwick of Lansing, MI and Megan Ludwick of Phoenix, AZ. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Masonic & Odd Fellow Cemetery, Benton, IL with Military Rites by the Benton American Legion Post 280, VFW Post 2671 and the National Honor Guard Honor's Team. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton American Legion and will be accepted at the funeral home. Hobbs Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory handled the arrangements.
