Linda K. Lawson - Benton, IL Linda Kay Lawson, 53, of Benton, IL died at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Herrin Hospital. Linda was the daughter of James and Annette Lawson of Benton, Illinois. Linda was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Benton, IL. Throughout her life she held positions assisting and educating children, most notably starting as a volunteer and advancing to director of The First Baptist Church Daycare Center. Most recently, she volunteered her time helping with the First Baptist Church after school tutoring Program. With great enthusiasm, Linda recently launched a unique outreach ministry program, which her family will be continuing in her memory themed, "Jesus Calling&hellip," Linda was a graduate of Benton Consolidated High School, Rend Lake College and Southern Illinois University. She is survived by her mother, Annette Lawson of Benton, IL, her Uncle Charles Richard Dougherty (wife, Betty) of Wooster Ohio, three sisters and one brother&hellip, Beverly Poole, (husband, Kevin) Paducah, KY, Barbara Davison, (husband, Tim), Topeka, KS Chuck Lawson, (wife - Susan) Maryville, IL, and Sheri Barnett (husband - John), Spring Hill, TN. Four nephews: Keith Poole, (wife, Wendy) Paducah, KY, Ryan Poole, (wife, Dana) Benton, KY, Shane Lawson, Maryville, IL and Jace Barnett, Spring Hill, TN. Six nieces...Miranda Engelken, (husband, Ben) Lawrence, KS, Melissa Heinen, (husband, Brian) Auburn, KS, Leah Lawson, Maryville, IL, Mackenzie, Madison, and Ellie Barnett, Spring Hill, TN. Three great nieces: Madison and Grace Heinen, Auburn, KS, Adley Poole, Benton, KY and two great nephews&hellip,Jack Heinen, Auburn, KS and Dylan Engelken, Lawrence, KS. Linda was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Lawson, Benton, IL, stepfather, Kenneth Shaw, Benton, IL, niece, Anne Marie Davison, Topeka KS, and grandparents: Charles R. and Ellis Etta Dougherty of Benton, IL. Visitation is 5:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, December 17, 2012, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 18, 2012, both at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton, IL with Ministers Bill Carter and Bill Raby officiating. Memorial contributions can be made in Linda' Memory to the First Baptist Church, 201 South Main Street, Benton, IL. Linda touched so many that knew her. She was such an inspiration in the life that she led. Above all, she was a person of tremendous faith with a servant' heart. She will be missed greatly by all, but her legacy will forever live on.
