Loren N. Shaw - Benton, IL Loren N. Shaw, 85, of Benton, passed away peacefully at home at 12:01 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 surrounded by his family. Mr. Shaw was born February 1, 1927 in Franklin County, IL, the son of Frank Shaw and Emma (Launius) Shaw. He married Gladys M. Shaw on November 12, 1947 and she preceded him in death on January 20, 2007. He worked in maintenance at Turco Manufacturing in DuQuoin prior to his retirement where he was a former president of the UAW-CIO. Loren served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during World War II and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Benton. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors, planting flowers, and spending time with his family, friends, and dog buddy. Surviving relatives include six children, Larry (Gwen) Shaw, Carbondale, Janice Gibbs, Benton, Kenny (Shirley) Shaw, of Cleveland, TN, Nyoka (Robert) Riddle, Mt. Vernon, Rick Shaw, Benton, Daryl (Eula) Shaw, Herrin, nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Robin Shaw, two brothers, Herschel and Ezra Shaw, two sisters, Ethel Rich and Lorraine Gulley. Lorens wishes were to be cremated.
