Mariam (McKemie) Corn - Benton, IL Mariam (McKemie) Corn, 81, of Benton, IL, died at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Herrin Hospital. Mariam was born on March 23, 1929 in Christopher, IL, the daughter of Frank McKemie and Carrie (Yates) McKemie. She married John D. Corn on August 14, 1949 and he survives. Mariam taught fourth grade for the Elgin Public School system prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Benton First United Methodist Church, treasurer of the Benton Garden Club, loved to travel, enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving relatives include her husband, John Corn, Benton, IL, two sons, Scott Corn and wife Betty, Sycamore, IL, Vance Corn and wife Cindy, Austin, TX, four grandchildren, Jeff Corn, Poplar Grove, IL, and Kyle Corn, Sycamore, IL, Stacy and Michelle Corn, both of Austin, TX, two sisters, Ruth Moak, Champaign, IL, Emma Lou Beckwith, Morton, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Mariam was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jeff Corn. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Shook officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL.
