Marilyn S. Knight, 64, of Benton, IL, died 2:20 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL. She was born on November 16, 1950, in Benton, IL, the daughter of Troy and Vevia (Threewitt) Knight. Ms. Knight previously worked at Stonebridge Nursing Home in Benton and Heritage Woods of Benton as a Certified Nursing Assistant Supervisor. She was a loving sister and Aunt. Her loving nieces and nephews referred to her as "Merny". Marilyn was a special woman. She sacrificed her time and her life for the sake of others. Always taking care of those in need. If this world had more Marilyn Knights in it, this place would be so much better to live in. She is preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Vevia Knight, two brothers and sisters, Donnie Knight, Eddie Knight, Kathy Gulley and Shirley Summers, a brother-in-law, David Green, and nephew, Bill Goodwin. Surviving relatives include her four sisters, Joyce Duchene and husband Art, Judy Green, Linda Summers and husband Ronald and Audrey Gilliam, twenty-six nieces and nephews, Shelia Hightower and husband Paul, Troy Knight and wife Kelly, Eva Boonstra and husband Hank, Freddie Parkhill and wife Norma, Sandy Newbolds, David Summers, John Summers, Jerry Summers, Jeff Summers and wife Crystal, Tammy Solomon, Ron Williams and wife Lisa, Rhonda Bush and husband Kevin, Lisa Rodriguez and husband Tony, Stephen Chirch and wife Brittany, Vevia Tindall and husband Greg, Keith Williams and wife Jennifer, Randy William and wife Tammy, Robin Goodwin, Kim Hutchinson and husband Pete, Tim Summers and wife Jenni, Kevin Summers, Kristie Rutland, Heather Summers, Mark Stelle, Laurie Gonzales and Lindsay Vessels and husband Steven, many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory, Benton, IL. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory, with Rev. Mark Fitzpatrick Officiating. Burial will follow services at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in care of funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
