Mary Jo Kimmel - Benton, IL Mary Jo Kimmel, 89, of Benton, IL, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Kimmel was born on August 22, 1922 in Thompsonville, IL the daughter of Ray Smith and Martha (Hatchett) Smith. She married Joe H. Kimmel, Sr. on August 7, 1941 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2009. Mary Jo was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Benton, IL where she loved being with the many dear friends of her Sunday school class. She was known for a giving, generous spirit and a sacrificial love for her family and friends. Surviving relatives include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kay Kimmel, Broughton, IL, two daughters, Beckie West, Benton, IL, Mary Jane Davis, West Frankfort, IL, four grandchildren, Kathy Price and husband Derek, Norris City, IL, Joe Kimmel, III and wife De'Ann, Paducah, KY, Joshua M. West, Makanda, IL, Jeremy Kimmel, Broughton, IL, six great-grandchildren, Dylan and Riley Price, both of Norris City, IL, and Kristin, Karrington, Kourtland, and Katherine Kimmel, all of Paducah, KY, one brother, Jack Summers, West Frankfort, IL, a cousin, Jim and Norma Bennett, Royalton, IL. Mrs. Kimmel was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Ron Knox officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL.
