Michael Stephen Kovach, 89, of Benton, IL, died 9:25 a.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Stonebridge Senior Living Center, Benton, IL. He was born on November 26, 1925, in Christopher, IL, the Son of Mike and Anna (Fodor) Kovach. He married the former Cecelia Sapinski and she preceded him in death. Michael served in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from Illini Asphalt as a teamster. He enjoyed being an outdoorsman. Mr. Kovach is preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister who passed recently, Margaret Harkess and two brothers and sisters. Michael is survived by his son, Mark Kovach of Benton, IL and a brother, William J. Kovach of Benton, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the funeral home with Father Joseph Trapp officiating. Burial will follow services at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL. Memorial contributions may be made in the form of masses to St. Josephs Catholic Church, Benton, IL and will be accepted at the funeral home.
