Nellie HarperCollinsville, IL Nellie Harper, 79, of Collinsville, IL, a former Macedonia resident, died at 9:04 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 at her home in Collinsville, IL. Mrs. Harper was born on August 31, 1932 in Macedonia, IL the daughter of Wallace and Dorthy (Williams) Flannigan. She married William Harper in October 1969 and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2007. Nellie retired as a Securities Clerk with the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis, MO. She enjoyed traveling the country and sightseeing with her husband. Surviving relatives include one sister, Betty McKay, St. Louis, MO, one brother, Jim Flannigan, Macedonia, IL, two nieces, Angela Flannigan McRee and husband Ben, Rome, GA, Kelley Hardy and husband Patrick, Lawrenceville, GA, two nephews, Gary McKay, Afton, MO, Jeff McKay, Fenton, MO, four great-nephews and three great nieces, Owen and Liem McRee, Victoria, Aaron, and Katharin Hardy, Jessica and Max McKay, and several cousins. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Virgil Flannigan. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
