Norma "Jean" Dean Myers, 83, of Benton, passed away at 5:25 a.m., on Friday, September 9, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, IL.

She was born on September 25, 1933, to Clyde and Dorothy (Wilkerson) Evans in Benton, IL.  Jean enjoyed crafts and shopping. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Jean is survived by her children, Robin Ann Downey and husband John of Benton, IL, David Myers and wife Michelle of Benton, IL and Rick Myers and wife Alison of Metropolis, IL; a step-son, Marty Hammers and wife Toni of West Frankfort; one brother, Jim  Evans; one sister, Barbara Whitsett; 13 grandchildren, Lori Stewart and husband Eric, Ryan Myers and wife Heather, Adam Myers, Trevor  Myers, J.D. Downey and wife Nicole, Austin Myers, Jenna Myers, Tarah  Amling and husband Craig, Dustin Hammers, Marci Hammers, Marty Hammers, Melloni McClain and Amber McClain; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kylie, Lucas, Layla, Jaylon, Jarrick and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Dorothy Evans, one step-daughter, Marsha McClain and one sister, Linda Poynor.

Services have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home in Benton, IL.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL, with the Reverend Cameron Trusty, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
