Orville (Pete) Ray Baty, Sr.Sesser, IL Orville (Pete) Ray Baty, Sr., 71, died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Herrin Hospital following a brief illness. He leaves two sons, Orville (Pete) R. Baty, Jr. and wife Patricia of Paris, IL, Lawrence (Larry) W. Baty, II, St. Louis, MO, his companion, Christine Morgan, Sesser, IL, three step-children, Dale (Lynn) Brown, Streator, IL, Christie (Dennis) Loring, Streator, IL, Tammy Brown, Chillicothe, IL, twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Ann Jackson. Born in Broomfield, CO, Pete was raised in Sesser, IL before joining the U.S. Air Force and seeing the world with them. After serving his country he married, had 3 children, and moved to California. He drove a truck cross-country for many years while living in Streator, IL before retiring back to his roots in Sesser. After retiring, he was an active member with the V.F.W. Cox Post 4753 in Sesser, serving as Vice-Commander. He was also a member of Duck' Unlimited. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing before the memorial service. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the V.F.W. Cox Post 4753 in Sesser, with military rites conducted by Sesser VFW Post 4753. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be sent to the family to help pay for expenses.
