Paul Raymond Williams, Sr., 65, of Benton, IL, died Sunday, November 23, 2014, at his residence. He was born on June 16, 1949, in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of Clifford L. and Vivian I. (Carley) Williams, Sr. He married the former Susan Rosa Gardner and she survives. Mr. Williams was a veteran serving in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles both of Benton and former member of the Disabled American Veterans. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a passion for woodworking, working on small engines and playing the drums. Paul enjoyed camping and fishing. Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents, a wife, Ruby L. Williams, brothers and sisters, Janice Isaccs, Jerry Williams, Deborah Kay Matthias, Lola Mae Williams and William Warren Williams. Surviving relatives include his wife, Susan Rosa (Gardner) Williams, seven children, Kevin Williams and Sherie of Wayne City, IL, Amanda Looney of Avon Park, FL, Jennifer Hudetts of Benton, IL, Raymond Williams and wife Apryl of Benton, IL, Laura Vititoe and husband Donald of Christopher, IL, Paul Raymond Williams, Jr. of Christopher, IL and Paula Babor and husband James of Virginia, twenty-two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Clifford L. Williams, Jr. and wife Susan of Homewood, IL, a sister, Shelia Saunders of South Chicago Heights, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton, IL. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Zbiden officiating. Burial will follow services at Harrison Cemetery in Buckner, IL with military rites performed by the Benton American Legion/V.F.W.
