Robert O. HigdonPaducah, KY Robert O. Higdon, 74, of Paducah, KY, formerly of Benton, IL, died at 12:31 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Lourdes Hospital, Paducah, KY. Mr. Higdon was born on December 16, 1935 in Mayfield, KY the son of Will E. Higdon and Mae Ree (Stovall) Higdon. He married Fern Higdon on July 10, 1968 and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2010. Bob retired from HALCO of North America where he worked as a machinist. He was former member of the Modern Woodmen of America and a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Macedonia, IL. He loved fishing, reading, watching Western' on television and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving relatives include five children, Robert W. Higdon, Elgin, IL, David Higdon, Paducah, KY, Sharma Taylor, Benton, IL, Arlyn Higdon, Paducah, KY, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Higdon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three daughters, Darlene Paulson, Evalaine Jerry, Lauren "Annie" Mulholland, one son, Howard Darnell, one brother, Marvin Dowdy, and one sister, Alice Patterson, Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Cemetery, Macedonia, IL with Rev. John Elko officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
