Robert Paul "Skinny" Skinion - Benton, IL Robert Paul "Skinny" Skinion, 58, of Benton, died at 1:12 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Franklin Hospital in Benton. Mr. Skinion was born on August 28, 1953 in Christopher, IL the son of Merle Skinion and Fortunata "Babe" (Monari) Skinion. Robert worked as a taxi cab driver for Jumpin Jimmys and also as a coal miner. He enjoyed "Hoggin" at Rend Lake, spending time outdoors bow hunting and mushroom hunting. Robert liked music and played the drums for a band while in high school. One of his most recent hobbies was panning for gold from dirt sent from a friend. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton. Surviving relatives include one daughter, Katrina Skinion, Benton, one brother, Carl Skinion, Benton, and several cousins. Mr. Skinion was preceded in death by his parents, an infant granddaughter born sleeping, one brother, Jay Skinion and one sister, Denise Skinion. A Memorial Fish Fry in memory of Robert P. "Skinny" Skinion will be held from 2 p. m. to 6 p. m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Donna' Sweetwater Saloon in Benton.
