Obituary

Ronald Gene Gerino, 80, of Benton, passed away on April 8, 2015 at the Herrin Hospital. He was born on January 12, 1935 to Elvia and Eleanor (DeVoto) Gerino in Hammond, IN. On May 4, 1957 he married Patricia Fahey in Oak Park, IL. Mr. Gerino was a United States Army Veteran, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Benton, IL. He was the long-time owner of Benton Food Land, Benton, IL and the 72 Cab Company, Benton, IL. He retired from the State of Illinois Department of Corrections. Ron enjoyed being outdoors and could always be found on Lake Moses fishing for Crappie and Bluegill, or in his garden. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ronald is survived by his loving spouse of 58 years Patricia, Two Sons, Ronald "Ron" J. (Susan) Gerino of Seminole, FL and Thomas "Tom" J. (Patricia) Gerino of Spicewood, TX; a Daughter, Kathleen "Katy" A. McKain of Benton, IL; Grandson, James N. McKain of Queens, NY; Brother, Gerald (Paula) Gerino of Sharpsburg, GA also surviving many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents, a Sister, Roxine Kuzara, two Brothers, Jay Gerino and John Gerino, a Son-in-law, Mark McKain, and a Granddaughter, Molly McKain. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Mr. Gerino was cremated per his request. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU staff at Herrin Hospital. Memorials contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Benton, IL.
