Sharon S. Clayton, 80, of Benton, passed away at 9:36 p.m., on Sunday, September 18, 2016, surrounded by her family at Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton, IL.
She was born on April 26, 1936, to Lovell and Virginia (Ritchison) Mitchell in Bedford, IN. Sharon retired as a secretary after working more than 10 years at the First United Methodist Church in Benton.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton. Sharon enjoyed drawing, painting and reading. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Vickie Golliher and husband Dave of Benton, IL and Jennifer Summers of Benton, IL; three sisters, Donna Stanton, Janice Vaughn, Phyllis Leffler and husband Jim; five grandchildren, Nathan Golliher and wife Aisha, Brooke Docherty, Abby Docherty, Dani Summers and Scott Summers and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lovell Mitchell and Virginia Pace.
Services have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, Benton IL.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., at Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2016, 2:00 p.m., at the Pate Funeral Home, Benton, IL, with the Reverend Lee Lovett, officiating.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Benton Ministerial Alliance and will be accepted at the funeral home.
