Sheryl Sue Elkins-McCay, 61, of Benton, died at 5:38 am, Thursday, August 20, 2015. Mrs. McCay was born June 2, 1954 in Michigan, IN, the daughter of Earl Edward and Mary Helen (Shaw) Elkins. She married Michael R. McCay and he survives. Sheryl was a home health care provider. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Sheryl cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren and tending to her roses. Surviving relatives include her husband of over 20 years, children, January (Wade Stark) Elkins, Autum L. (Kevin Burnett) Elkins, Crystal (Vince) Rowatt, Kesha McCay, Deanna McCay, Michael (Linsday) McCay Jr., Eric McCay; brothers and sisters, Sherry L. Elkins Langford (twin sister), Vickie L. Cummings, Michelle M. (Chris J.) Dobkins, Richard E. (Hazel Joseph) Elkins, Michael E. (Diana) Elkins, Terry (Roxanne) Elkins, Steve Elkins; grandchildren, Zachary Troutt, Kindal Stark, Eli, Jayma, Malayna, Catrina and Hannah Burnett; and several loved and cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. McCay was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jamie Lynn Holderfeld; and mother-in-law, Norma Gunter. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL. A Graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in care of funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
